Carroll County Public Health on Pertussis (Whooping Cough)

Due to recent pertussis in Carroll County AND Carroll Community Schools, we are encouraging all parents of children ages 11-18 to consider immunizing their children with a Tdap through an in-school vaccination clinic made possible by Carroll County Public Health.  In addition, Tdap is now required for incoming 7th graders starting in the fall.  The Tdap is free through Carroll County Public Health for students ages 11-18.If you are interested, please download the consent form from the Health Services web site or you can request a consent from your school nurse.  Consents must be returned to the school by Wednesday, January 23rd, in order to have adequate vaccine.  The dates of the Tdap clinic will be announced as soon as we know adequate vaccine is available from the public health office.  Clinics will be held at Adams,  Middle School, and High School.  If you have more questions about pertussis or the vaccine, you can contact your health care provider, your school nurse, or public health.

Click here to read the chart on the CCSD Health Services Website for more descriptions and a comparison between pertussis, influenza, and a cold.  If your child is ill, please remember to keep them home in order to prevent the spread of all illness in our schools. Please feel free to contact Carroll County Public Health or your primary care physician with any questions or concerns related to pertussis.
